Nepalese licence lands driver in the drink

A 26-year-old Amaroo man has been caught drink driving while on a non-recognised international licence.

On Friday morning, during a traffic stop on a Holden Commodore sedan on Drakeford Drive, Kambah, the man provided police with his Nepalese driver’s licence. A breath analysis returned a result of 0.127, well above the legal limit of 0.05.

As Nepal is a non-recognised country for licensing purposes in the ACT, the man was subject to a zero blood-alcohol-limit (0.00).

He was immediately suspended from driving in the ACT for three months and will face court in coming weeks.
