Community grants up for grabs in Queanbeyan

council chambers

QUEANBEYAN Mayor Tim Overall says community groups have been invited to apply for a Community Project Grant through the Southern Phone Grant Scheme.

The total grant funding available to the Queanbeyan Local Government Area is $25,000.

“Grants will be in the range of $1000 and $6000 and successful grants must have projects ready to go between October 2015 and March 2016,” Tim said.

“The objective of the scheme is to provide funding for projects which provide direct benefit to the area and would not be a project usually considered by Council for funding.

“Previous recipients had included the Seiffert Oval Workshop Renovation managed by the Disabilities Trust; a new water bubbler for the Queanbeyan Netball Association; shade structures for Queanbeyan Little Athletics and a bush regeneration project for Bicentennial Park through Queanbeyan Landcare.

“I encourage all groups with projects coming up to have a look at the criteria and consider applying,” Tim said.

Online applications close on 11 September. For more information, including guidelines, go to southernphone.com.au/grants or southernphone.smartygrants.com.au/queanbeyan
