Embassy open days to return

andrew barr

ANDREW Barr has announced the revival of the Centenary’s “Windows to the World” program.

“Windows to the World is a series of open days and tours at the city’s Embassies and High Commissions,” Andrew said.

“It offers our community and visitors to the city a unique glimpse into the lives of the diplomatic community and the diverse cultures they represent.

“This is an experience you can only have in Canberra and is one of the great unique offerings of this city. The program will run over four weekends during Floriade starting on the 19 and 20 of September and concluding on the 10 and 11 of October.

“Planning has now commenced and we are expecting an increase in participation by the Embassies and High Commissions. Some will offer open days where the community can come en masse to visit the mission, others will offer smaller tours and experiences which will need to be booked.

“I am also very pleased to announce the ACT Government’s partnership with Canberra’s water utility Icon Water. Without their support this program wouldn’t be possible and I am thrilled they are committed to supporting this very popular program. Managing Director John Knox joined me today for the announcement spoke of the utility’s continued support for the Canberra community.

Embassies and High Commissions already committed to the program include the Philippines, United States of America, Greece, the Netherlands, the Delegation of the European Union, Mexico, Algeria, Botswana, Mongolia, Malaysia and Thailand.

More details will be available as we get closer to the date and bookings will open in September.
