Feel Italian for a day

FOR the first time, the grounds of the Italian ambassador’s Deakin residence will be open to the public for a festival of Italian culture.

italian-flagOn Sunday, November 8, Italian ambassador Pier Francesco Zazo and his wife Svitlana are inviting people to come along and “feel Italian” for a day.

Funds raised will be donated to the bilingual Yarralumla Primary School to purchase Italian educational resources and to Villaggio Sant’ Antonio to assist with the care for the elderly.

There will be a variety of Italian food and drinks for sale including degustation plates, pizza, pasta, gelato, pastries, biscotti, sausages, olive oil, coffee and wine.

Musical performers include the Dante Musica Viva Italian choir, the Canberra Mandolin Orchestra, Joe Sorrentino, Livio and Virginia’s duet and Mario Rosi on the piano accordion. Children of the Yarralumla Primary School will also sing.  

Italian luxury cars and scooters will be on display just inside the ambassador’s residence grounds.

There will also be a lucky-dip tree and entertainment for the little children; a treasure trove and a great raffle with prizes including vouchers from Carla Zampatti, Bulgari, Armani and Max Mara.
