Severe storm inbound to Canberra

THE Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 5:15 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Brindabella and Mount Franklin in the Brindabellas. These thunderstorms are moving towards the northeast.

They are forecast to affect Belconnen, Canberra Civic, Queanbeyan, Tuggeranong, Hall, Gungahlin, Canberra Airport, South Canberra, Weston Creek and Woden Valley by 5:45 pm.

Damaging winds are likely.
