SUMMERNATS has announced its first artists for the 2016 festival.

Leading the line-up on the main stage at Summernats 29 are two of Australia’s favourite rock acts, You Am I and Hoodoo Gurus. More acts will be announced in the next couple of months.

You Am I will be opening the Summernats music program on Thursday January 7.

“The band wanna pay homage to our beautiful capital and automotive chicanery,” says the bands lead singer Tim Rogers.

The Hoodoo Gurus will headline the festival on Saturday January 9.

“I’ve been wanting to make it to the Summernats for years but family commitments in Perth have always prevented me – until now!” Gurus frontman Dave Faulkner said.

“With the Gurus playing a gig there next year I’ve got the perfect excuse. I wouldn’t call myself a rev-head exactly but I have only ever owned V8s. Need I say more?”
