Gungahlin’s Marketplace to expand, big changes to parking!

GUNGAHLIN’S Town Centre is set to lose the car park adjacent to Woolworths at The Marketplace as the complex expands.

The $60m retail expansion is underway with major car park expansion works to commence next Monday July 27.

The car park adjacent to Woolworth’s will be closed from 5am on Monday to make way for the new 2 level, 505 space undercover basement car park to service the new ground level retail precinct which will include a new concept Kmart as its anchor. The new car park is expected to open in mid 2016.

All retailers will continue to trade as normal and the existing basement car park will not be affected by the development works.

A new temporary car park will be located off Anthony Rolfe Avenue. An undercover link has been created to provide direct access to the Woolworths store.

“We’re also working in partnership with the Lions Club of Gungahlin to communicate these changes to parking. They’ll be rewarding our loyal customers for their continued patronage with free coffee vouchers”, said Development Manager Phillip Knackstedt.

A map showing the new parking arrangements is available on the Centre’s website or shoppers can collect a copy from the Woolworths Gungahlin information desk.

Upon completion the new and improved Marketplace will offer Woolworths, Big W, a new concept Kmart, 100 specialty stores plus 20 places to eat and drink, accessed by over 1300 undercover car spaces.

The retail expansion is due for completion prior to Christmas 2016.
