Hanson asks just how much will the new hospital cost?

Jeremy Hanson

JEREMY Hanson says the Barr government hasn’t provided adequate details about what the University of Canberra Public Hospital (UCPH) will cost and he is calling on Simon Corbell to provide the full costs of the project immediately.

“After the government first announced it would build a 200 bed sub-acutehospital over three years ago in 2012, Labor has yet to provide adequate details on when the hospital will be operational, how many staff will be employed at the hospital, how much construction will cost and what the operational cost of the hospital will be,” Jeremy said

“More than three years after ACT Labor took the proposal to the 2012 Election, Simon Corbell cut 60 beds from the hospital. Costs are being done behind the scenes and given the government has committed to the project, the costs should be made public.

“Is Simon Corbell worried about comparing the costs of light rail with other infrastructure projects?

“The government is going ahead with the UCPH, albeit without 60 beds that were earlier promised. There shouldn’t be any reason why the full costings can’t be released,” Mr Hanson concluded.
