Huge stolen loot stash seized in Mitchell

ACT Policing seized $100,000 worth of suspected stolen property from a storage unit in Mitchell during a search warrant on Friday (14 August).

On Friday afternoon, City Patrol members attended the storage unit at Storage King, Mitchell, to execute a search warrant following information received by police. During the search, police located and seized a large amount of items suspected to be stolen property including a Harley Davidson motorcycle, a Honda Fireblade motorcycle, two mini motorcycles, 21 mag wheels, 21 high-end bicycles, game consoles, golf clubs, various tools, and other assorted property including a distinctive framed memorabilia of the Godfather movie. The estimated value of the items is approximately $100,000.

ACT Policing are seeking CCTV from the area and AFP Forensic Services have examined the seized items. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.

Police suspect all the items located in the unit are stolen property and believe the items were most likely stolen during burglaries within the ACT.

Police will assess the items against stolen property reports in an endeavour to return the property to the original owners.

Police are urging anyone who with information that could assist police in the investigation to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via act.crimestoppers.com.au.
