Hyatt puts Canberra on the map with “unique menu option”

WHILE many celebrate Canberra’s culinary renaissance at the moment the Hyatt Hotel Canberra has managed to attract global infamy by offering a buffet option of “Grilled Moroccan Aborigine”.

The typo was spotted by the ABC’s Liz Foschia who tweeted it.

Sadly the Hyatt’s global social media team mis-interpreted what she was getting at and enthused back at her.

unique menu option

This then created a global media firestorm which has seen Canberra’s hotel heavyweight mocked in the pages of:

  • The Independent
  • The UK Telegraph
  • Metro (uk)
  • Stuff.co.nz
  • AOL Travel UK
  • 3News NZ
  • The Rakyat Post
  • The Daily Mirror

We remain thrilled to see the dish is gluten free.
