Indecent assault at UC

police

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses who can assist in the investigation of an indecent assault which took place in Kirinari St, Bruce, within the University of Canberra campus last week.

Around 9.30pm on Wednesday (March 18), the female victim was walking along a footpath on Kirinari St, toward College St and adjacent to Bimbimbie St, when a male with an Australian accent, about 1.80 cm (5’11”) tall, with short hair and wearing a black hooded jumper approached from the opposite direction.

The offender grabbed the woman and dragged her into some nearby bushes, where he indecently assaulted her.

The victim struck out at the offender who then fled, also possibly as a result of the approach of another person. The victim was shaken and upset, but not physically injured.

Several cars were seen in Kirinari and College Streets around the time of the incident, and police believe there may be one or more potential witnesses who may have seen the offender or can assist the investigation. If you can assist, or saw a suspicious person in a black hoodie in Bruce at the time of the incident, report it to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the website at https://act.crimestoppers.com.au.

Police remind people they should not report crime information via our Facebook and Twitter pages.
