JOURNALISTS are used to enjoying junkets – that’s when you get to travel to somewhere fabulous and write it up – but now the rest of the world is catching up.
In the relentless pursuit of new markets, QT Hotels & Resorts, which first launched itself on the Gold Coast in 2011, is holding the mother of all junkets right now, as some of Australia’s most creative and innovative minds converge on QT Canberra for – yes you’ve guessed it – “Junket.”
“Junket” is a concept by the team from Junkee Media where 200 of Australia’s brightest young people will be bashing their brains together at QT for an inaugural three-day unconference.
The idea is to connect talented young people who have a passion for Australia and who can help set the agenda for our country’s future.
Last night saw some of them deliver 60-second pitch, detailing a problem they wanted to solve, an idea they had to solve it, and the kinds of people they needed to get the ball rolling.
Junket’s curator Jess Scully has hand-picked individuals from different cultures, industries, locations and identities, who have different skills and experiences and can help brainstorm the best ideas, and turn them into reality.
We’ll just have to wait to see what emerges.
“Junket” runs until tomorrow, November 3 at QT Canberra.
