Staff at the restaurant evacuated when the automatic sprinklers came on.

Firefighters conducted atmospheric testing in the restaurant and the nearby public area of The Canberra Centre, giving it the all clear.

Parts of Bunda street were closed so fire crews could access the restaurant.

There were no injuries and firefighters say the automatic alarm system prevented the fire spreading.

Damage has been confined to water from the automatic sprinkler system.
