Man with knife tasered at Parliament House

ACT Policing has responded to an incident that occurred at Parliament House this afternoon (Thursday, 8 January 2015).

Around 12:30pm, ACT Policing and AFP Protection Services Officers attended to a man who was observed to be armed with a knife.

Attending officers began a de-escalation negotiation process with the man.

During the de-escalation negotiation process, the man was tasered as he failed to relinquish the knife. The man has been taken into custody.

There are no national security concerns regarding this incident.
