MICK Gentleman says evaluations of the effectiveness of two traffic management schemes rolled out in Tuggeranong in mid-2014 are now underway.

“The ACT Government acted upon complaints about speeding, rat running and dangerous intersections in Chisholm, Richardson, Gilmore, Macarthur, Fadden and Gowrie,” Mick said.

“The measures have now been in place for over six months. We now want to know if they have effectively achieved the desired outcomes of reducing the speed and volume of traffic and increasing the overall level of road safety.”

“Six sets of speed cushions were installed on Clift Crescent and three sets of speed cushions were installed on Baskerville Street to help reduce speeds by providing continuous speed control all day, every day, and enhance road safety along these residential streets.

“Coyne Street also had three sets of speed cushions installed to reduce speeds on the bend, as well as a pedestrian refuge island to create a safer crossing opportunity.

“The evaluation will include a technical analysis of traffic speed, volume and crash data. Feedback from people who regularly travel on these roads or live along them is also an important part of this evaluation.

“I encourage Canberrans to complete the online survey available at www.timetotalk.act.gov.au and tell us what they have experienced. Alternatively, you may complete a hard copy survey available at the Tuggeranong Library.

“Surveys will also be delivered to households in Chisholm, Richardson, Gilmore, Macarthur, Fadden and Gowrie. Consultation closes 5 pm Monday 13 April 2015,” Minister Gentleman concluded.
