In the wake of yesterday’s missing person report there’s a chilling release from NSW Police today:

Police search for man after body of woman found in car – Bermagui

A Police operation is currently underway at Bermagui in the Bega Valley following the discovery of the body of a woman in a car.

About 8.30pm (Wednesday 22 April 2015), police from Far South Coast Local Area Command stopped a car on the Bermagui to Tathra Road at Cuttagee Point, Bermagui, before the driver fled into bushland.

Police conducted a search of the vehicle, where they located the body of a woman, believed to be aged in her 30s.

A crime scene has been established at the car, and a perimeter has been set up as police search for the man.

Investigations into the incident are continuing. Initial investigations suggest the man and woman were known to each other.

Police are hoping to speak with a man who may be able to assist with inquiries. He is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, in his late 20s, with an athletic build. He was last seen wearing dark clothing.

Police advise members of the public who see the man or know his whereabouts not to approach him, but to contact ‘Triple 0’ immediately.

Inquiries continue after woman’s body found in car – Bermagui

Detectives in the state’s south-east are continuing inquiries following the discovery of a woman’s body at Bermagui overnight.

Police from Far South Coast Local Area Command stopped a blue Hyundai Getz on the Bermagui to Tathra Road just after 8.30pm (Wednesday 22 April 2014). The male driver ran from police into nearby bushland.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers located a woman’s body in the boot.

A crime scene was established and a perimeter of the area was set up as a search was launched for the man.

The woman has not been formally identified; however, police are investigating possible links to this incident and reports of a missing couple from the ACT.

Local detectives are liaising with the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad and ACT Policing as inquiries into the incident continue.

Investigators are appealing for public assistance as they continue their efforts to locate the man.

He’s described as being of Pacific Islander / Maori appearance, approximately 180cm tall, with short black hair and with a solid build.

Anyone who see’s the man, or believe they know his whereabouts, is urged not to approach him but to contact Triple Zero ‘000’ immediately.
