A GALLERY of different themed gardens will be developed at the Arboretum with the first to come from a partnership with the soon-to-be-defunct Open Gardens Australia.
Despite its being wound up by year’s end, OAG will fund the garden, says TAMS Minister Shane Rattenbury.
“A selected panel of garden designers and landscape architects will be invited to submit designs for this new addition to the Arboretum,” he says.
“The designers will be asked to draw inspiration from the theme ‘artistry of gardens’. These designs will reflect goals shared by the Arboretum and OGA.
“The Arboretum is at the very beginning of its long life, and now OGA’s legacy will live on in Australia’s newest and most ambitious national institution. The project will also have strong community links as local volunteers will be offered the opportunity to maintain the new garden.”
The winning design will be announced on site at the Gallery of Gardens at a public event at 10am on Saturday, June 27.
