police

INVESTIGATIONS are underway after ACT Policing attended a fire in Red Hill yesterday (Sunday, 26 April).

ACT Fire and Rescue and police arrived at a unit in Discovery Street around 9:30pm and found the rear carport on fire.

ACT Fire and Rescue extinguished the fire with damage estimated to be valued at $50,000. No other units in the area were affected.

Following an analysis of the scene once the fire had been extinguished, police and fire investigators believe the fire was deliberately lit and deemed it suspicious.

The circumstances surrounding the fire are being investigated by Criminal Investigations detectives.

Police ask that anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or who may have information about the fire, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the Crime Stoppers website on act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
