The poppies are blooming even as the mercury plummets

WE note with some indignation that despite the bureau forecasting pretty normal freezing overnight temperatures for this week that this morning they’ve logged -4.9 degrees at the airport.

The king parrots of Reid did not seem appreciative.

The forecast is for things to stay above freezing until Sunday, but after this morning can we trust them?

In contrast to frozen hedges and birds the poppies of Glebe Park are now heavily in bloom despite supposedly being a spring performer. I’m not complaining.
