QUEANBEYAN Council has agreed to adopt the NSW Government’s voluntary Scores on Doors food scheme which displays the results of food premises inspections on a certificate that can be affixed at the entry point into retail food premises.
It makes the public aware of how well the business is complying with NSW Hygiene and Food Safety requirements. Participation in the program by food businesses is optional.
The NSW Food Authority is strongly encouraging all NSW councils to be part of the scheme, which is aimed at improving safety and hygiene within retail food businesses and providing clearer choices for consumers throughout the State.
Queanbeyan Council hopes the scheme will not only promote compliance with food hygiene standards but also promote trust in food businesses and further the reputation and economy of food businesses in the area.
