SAFE Shelter, which provides overnight shelter for homeless men during winter, is looking for volunteers to undergo training and to staf the shelters this coming winter.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, have completed the two night training course, hold a Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) card, and be willing to spend a minimum of one night per month stafng a shelter between 27 April and 1 October. They select their own nights to work in the shelters where they operate in teams of 3 or 4, opening the shelters at 7.00 pm and leaving by 7.00 am. Volunteers sleep on the foor of the shelter, as do the guests.

Training for potential volunteers will start on 31 March. There will be six training courses available to choose from before 27 April. Each training evening starts at 7.00 pm and finishes at 9.00 pm. After they have completed their course, trainees are asked to decide whether they wish to volunteer to work in Safe Shelter.
