Shooting in Wanniassa

ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigations is investigating a shooting incident in Wanniassa last night (Friday, June 26).

Police were called to a house in Wanniassa after residents reported hearing the sound of a single gunshot.

A man suffered a gunshot wound to his leg and underwent treatment in The Canberra Hospital. His injuries are not considered life threatening.

Detectives from Criminal Investigations are conducting enquiries into the incident.

AFP Forensics will conduct an examination.

A 31 year-old man was subsequently arrested and is assisting police with their inquiries.

Any witnesses or anyone with information as to the shooting who has not yet spoken to police are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously. Police remind people they should not report crime information via Facebook and Twitter pages.
