Smoke over Canberra coming in from NSW

controlled burn

THE NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) have begun an ambitious hazard reduction burning program in the Southern Ranges, with fuel reduction underway at Jounama in central-northern Kosciuszko National Park.

Extensive smoke is visible across Canberra. It is expected this fire will continue to produce smoke over the coming days.

The ACT Emergency Services Agency requests that people do not ring Emergency Triple Zero (000) for this fire but are urged to report any other new fires that they might identify that are unattended.
