Snake advice!

TERRITORY and Municipal Services have produced the above video giving timeless advice as to what to do if you encounter one of Canberra’s eight species of snakes.

Being the bush capital Canberra has an abundance of native wildlife, including eight species of snakes.
If you do come across a snake, don’t think of it as a showdown.
Just calmly back away and give it a wide berth.
Snakes need food, water and shelter to survive.
Keep your yard tidy to make it less attractive to snakes.
If you see one in your yard, move pets and children away for an hour or so.
It’s most likely just passing through, looking for food, so just leave it alone.
When walking, wear enclosed shoes and avoid walking in long grass.
Snakes are an important part of the environment.Give them their space and they will give you yours.
