The exhibiting artists were Joel Arthur, Estelle Briedis-Spelman, Mimi Fairall, Sanne Koelemij, Chelsea Lemon, Millán Pintos-L?pez, Kael Stasce, Gemma Sue, Madeleine Ward, Madisyn Zabel and Yioryios and in a beautifully-hung show, their work has been shown to maximum advantage by curators Hannah Web and Ella Morrison, who chose a theme of geometric abstraction, allowing all eleven artists express a sense of geometry through their application of line, form, and colour in materials ranging from steel to canvas and from paper to string.

I caught up with the show on Friday afternoon without the cocktail hour crowd to impede my vision and it is well worth a look.

Judges, Canberra Museum and Gallery curator Mark Bayly and Megalo’s Megan Jackson, commented, “one artist’s work was a stand-out for its aesthetic and conceptual strength and its refined attention to detail. Having moved his practice forward considerably in his graduating year, this artist has continued to develop evident links to art historical models, while maintaining a firm eye on the future.”
