The Qwire and In Full Swing team up for a night of jazz

TWO of Canberra’s longest running musical community groups are combining forces for a one-night-only concert event on 27 June 2015.

The Canberra Gay and Lesbian Qwire and In Full Swing have been playing music in and around the Canberra region for over 20 years. The Qwire, with more than 80 members and In Full Swing, a 20 piece big band will take to the stage of the Hellenic Club in Woden to present an unforgettable night of jazz featuring timeless songs such as Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, Feeling Good, My Way and many more.

Leonard Weiss, the Musical Director of the Qwire says that “this concert is about promoting ‘connections’ and what better way to reach out to the community than by holding a combined concert between two vibrant music organisations.”

In Full Swing, led by Musical Director Beth Way, is excited to collaborate with such a talented choir “It’s not every day that the band gets the opportunity to share the stage with a choir – let alone an 80 voice powerhouse like the Canberra Gay and Lesbian Qwire”.

The Qwire and In Full Swing will also be joined by the Canberra Swing Katz – who have been wowing crowds at the Merimbula Jazz Festival over the June long weekend with their vibrant swing dancing performances.

The concert on the 27 June is expected to be a sell-out with an audience of between 400-500 anticipated.

Dinner + Show and Show Only ticket options available.
