Upgrades at the shops

Shane-Rattenbury-SB7_7482-400x266

SHANE Rattenbury says work has started on a $950,000 series of upgrades to shopping centres in Charnwood, Griffith and Theodore.

“The three shopping centres will see improvements in amenity, public access, safety and security through a number of minor upgrades,” Shane said.

“Work on Charnwood shops will commence on Tuesday, and will include new signage at the corner facing Tillyard Drive, increased footpath width in front of the shops, a more useable community gathering space with sculptural seating elements, new trees and a new drinking fountain.

“In Theodore, the shopping centre will be provided with a new community gathering space in front of the shops with a shade structure, a picnic table, seating and new community notice board. There will also be new bike racks, shop signage and new landscaping as well as improved stormwater drainage treatments.

“Griffith upgrades will start in February and will include improved artwork paving, a new drinking fountain, new bike racks, a new handrail on the steps leading to the shops and cleaning of the shade structure.

“All three shopping centres will also receive upgrades to meet current standards for lighting and parking for people with disabilities. These upgrade works are planned to be completed by mid 2015.”
