Victory declared on Yamba Drive

Mick Gentleman

MICK Gentleman has announced the completion of a series of road safety improvements on Yamba Drive in Mawson, O’Malley, Farrer and Isaacs.

“Yamba Drive has been made safer with $315,000 of improvement works, part of the ACT Governments integrated transport network now completed,” Mick said.

“The improvements follow from the investment of $1.2 million into the access and safety upgrades along Yamba Drive in 2013 following the tragic accident involving a pedestrian outside Canberra Hospital in 2012.

“Linemarking and signage improvements were undertaken at the intersections of Yamba Drive and the south end of Julia Flynn Avenue and Yamba Drive and Dookie Street.”

“Linemarking was also undertaken on other sections of Yamba Drive as well as on sections of shared path throughout Isaacs.

“Other works included barrier and reflector improvements along Yamba Drive, guide sign improvements, cycle safety signage, and maintenance works to the kerb along Yamba Drive.

“These improvements will ensure motorists and other road users on Yamba Drive can use the roads as safely and efficiently as possible,” Minister Gentleman concluded.
