Video / Police impersonator busted, car seized

ACT Policing has seized a black Ford Ranger after executing a search warrant at a Gilmore house last night (Wednesday, 4 March).

Around 7:30pm last night, the warrant was executed as part of an ongoing investigation involving a black Ford Ranger, being reported to police, as bearing emergency lights and driving in a dangerous manner.

The vehicle was first reported to police on Saturday, 21 February after being seen driving in a dangerous manner exiting the car park at Canberra Stadium and driving along Ginninderra Drive with emergency lights illuminated and a siren sounding. The male driver of the vehicle attempted to pull another vehicle over, before turning off Ginninderra Drive and traveling along Hayden Drive at high speed.

As a result of the driving manner being reported, police were able to obtain a partial registration of the vehicle. Further investigations, undertaken by officers from Gungahlin Station, located the vehicle at a house in Gilmore.

As a result of the vehicle being located, a search warrant was executed and a 35-year-old man is assisting police with the investigation.

ACT Policing would also like to remind the community that they may request to see police identification or badge and warrant card to confirm the identity of any plain clothed police officer.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed a black Ford Ranger driving with illuminated emergency lights to contact ACT Policing Operations on 131 444.
