THE public has spoken and after almost 1000 votes being cast, the design for Tuggeranong’s new water play park at Lakeside Leisure Centre has been decided.

Sport Minister Shane Rattenbury says: “Members of the public were invited to choose their favourite design from the three options available, and the first design came out on top, receiving almost 50 per cent of the vote.

“Covering an area of 246 metres squared and a spray area of 153 metres squared, this design included the most water activities as well as shade sails for protection from the sun.

“Our pools do require maintenance from time to time, but when patrons return to the pool when it reopens on September 1, and then again at the start of the summer season on November 1, I am confident they will be pleased with the improvements to LLC, which will include the new water play park.”

The LLC, including the gymnasium, will be closed for July and August to enable necessary repair and maintenance to occur. The refurbishment includes retiling of the pool concourse and renovating the change rooms.
