Who wants a campsite to call their own?

THE ACT Parks and Conservation Service is encouraging those with an interest in the great outdoors to become a volunteer host at one of the many great campsites in the ACT.

“When the weather gets warmer, more people go camping, and we are looking for enthusiastic and friendly volunteers to act as hosts at some of our campgrounds, especially at high use areas like Cotter Campground and Woods Reserve,” Regional Manager, National Parks and Catchments, Brett McNamara, said.

“Hosts assist campers by promoting walks and activities, directing people to facilities, updating information boards, providing information on other local attractions and helping keep the campgrounds clean.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who loves nature and dealing with people. It is also a great chance for those looking for a future career in the parks and conservation field to gain experience in managing a popular recreation area. Full training and support will be provided to successful applicants. Hosts stay on site and are most needed over the Christmas and school holiday periods.

“At the Cotter Campground, the host will have full use of the powered ‘villa’ for up to two weeks during their stay. At Woods Reserve and other campsites hosts can camp or stay in their own caravan.”
