Yoda and Angry Birds to soar over Canberra

THE Canberra Balloon Spectacular will this year host two special guests, Yoda from Star Wars and an ‘Angry Bird’, when the event returns to Canberra for its 29th year.

This year’s special shapes, Yoda and an Angry Birds balloon, will be among more than 30 giant hot air balloons that will travel to Canberra from as far away as Belgium and the United States to participate in the Balloon Spectacular.

During the event, balloons will launch daily from 6.15am on the lawns of Old Parliament House and fly against the backdrop of Canberra’s national attractions.

Spectators, balloonists and volunteers will also have the opportunity to purchase a hot breakfast supplied by the Belconnen Lions Club with the proceeds going to local charities. Last year alone the hot breakfasts raised over $30,000 for the Canberra community.
