THE “Fearless Comedy Gala” is Australia’s first comedy gala for victims of family violence. The line-up of 10 top comedians, all donating their time for the cause, will be led by Jean Kittson and include Sammy J, Adam Richard and Canberra’s own comedy singing duo, Sparrow-Folk. BILK Gallery people are just back from ATTA Gallery in Bangkok where they exhibited work by selected Australian jewellers. You can see the show “Interchange: Bilk in Bangkok” at the Palmerston Lane, Manuka, gallery. Meanwhile, Argentine-Canberran pianist Marcela Fiorillo makes her Thailand debut with the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra at Thailand Cultural Centre on August 11 performing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No 4 in G major, Op 58.

KURT Phelan, star of “Dirty Dancing”, is not above punning, as can be seen from the title of his new solo cabaret act “Phelan Groovy”, coming to Teatro Vivaldi , August 19-20. “INCONTRO” is a newish series of art and talks. The next will be an afternoon of Italian classical vocal performances, wine and antipasto. THE 80-minute comedy-drama “Ghost Stories” is coming to town. Unlike “Macbeth” at Theatre 3, it claims to be blood and gore free. Despite more than 500,000 people having seen it, details are shrouded in secrecy. We can say it’s unsuitable for anyone under 13 as well as “those of a nervous disposition” or pregnant.
