TEMPO Theatre is up to no good again, this time with “The Vicar of Dibley”, starring the talented Karyn Tisdell in an ecclesiastical change from her role as the doomed Sister Angelica for Canberra Opera earlier in the year. CHRIS Latham’s epic “Flowers of War” is reaching its climax for 2016 with a tour of “Three Treasures” – works by lost composers from World War I. It starts in Canberra and Sydney, when he’ll also launch a double CD of related works. Then, after dropping in on Fremantle with “Race Against Time”, music by Aussie “lost” composer FS Kelly, he’s taking off with Louise Page, Christina Wilson, Alan Hicks and Tamara-Anna Cislowska to perform at the Chateau de Querrieu on the Somme, the Army Museum in Paris, Balliol College Oxford and the Clothworkers’ Hall in London. THE British Film Festival will be focusing on pioneering director Ken Loach and a “Local Heroes” retrospective that includes “Goldfinger”, “Room at the Top” and “Carry On Up The Khyber”. It opens with Amma Asante’s “A United Kingdom”, a period drama based on the true-life romance between Botswanan King Seretse Khama and his British wife. At Palace Electric, October 25-November 16. CANBERRA Wind Symphony returns under the baton of Geoff Grey, in a concert featuring works by John Chance, Samuel R Hazo and Percy Grainger, as well as the Canberra premiere of James Barnes’ “Symphony No. 3”. At The Street Theatre, Wednesday, October 26. Bookings to thestreet.org.au or 6247 1223.
