THE Young Music Society’s coming summer school looks like being the liveliest ever.
With more than 400 students in attendance, this year’s event will see each student enjoying drumming classes with Gary France, from the Groove Warehouse, and choral practice with Opera Australia luminary Tobias Cole.
There’ll be a visit from the Polish ensemble Kwartludium and, of all things, an excursion to the Cavalry Baseball with Young Music Society students providing pre-game entertainment.
With a focus on creating new musical masterpieces and exploring creativity, the school runs for two weeks with classes for students from kindergarten to year 12.
There’ll be the chance to learn a new instrument and choose from a wide range of elective classes, as well as participate in public performances
And it’s not just classical music. As well as France and Cole, other teachers will be Moochers Inc., the Foray Ensemble, Mr Michael, Pheno and The String Contingent.
