CAPITAL ARTS Patrons’ Organisation’s (CAPO’s) annual night of nights is almost upon us.
The Canberra Museum and Gallery in Civic Square will welcome guests of to the 2016 CAPO Auction and Masked Soirée, with music by Dan’s Hot Six and a selection of gourmet food and drinks.
But forget the drinks, the highlight is an exhibition in which 134 artworks can be seen, ready to be auctioned during the night, and valued from $200 to over $10,000. These include works in lighting, photography, painting, printmaking, drawing, jewellery, sculpture, textiles, ceramics and glass and have been donated by our leading artists. In effect, artists support although many businesses to pin with named awards.
CAPO believes the show offers “an insightful look’ into the life and culture surrounding Australia’s capital through the eyes and minds of the leading local artists whose works are on display. A catalogue accompanies this significant exhibition, available at the auction and online.

You’ve only got another day to catch the CAPO exhibition, which is open to the public at CMAG from 10am–5pm (12-5pm Saturday) until tomorrow. The exhibition is free of charge to visitors.
CAPO President Penny Jurkiewicz said, “Every year, the board is grateful for the support of artists in our community who generously donate works. We appreciate the support of CMAG in presenting the exhibition over this week”.
