Breast cancer survivors encouraged to come and try dragon boat racing

dragons

DRAGONS Abreast Australia is a national organisation comprised of breast cancer survivors (and some very special supporters) of various ages from a great variety of backgrounds, athletic abilities and interests.

Dragons Abreast members provide a “face” for the breast cancer statistics whilst spreading the message of breast cancer awareness through participation in the wonderful and strenuous sport of dragon boat racing.

They are having a Come and Try session on September 10 to give breast cancer survivors the opportunity to have a gentle paddle and meet current members.

The event is being held at Lotus Bay, off Alexandrina Drive Yarralumla. Meet at the boats at 9am. There will be some pre water instruction then a half hour paddle.

You will need to complete a DB ACT Temporary Membership Form on the day or download from dbact.net and complete beforehand.

Wear 3/4 pants, T shirt, shoes that can get wet (eg crocs or old sneakers), hat, sunglasses and a change of clothes. Sunscreen and a water bottle are essential.
A paddle and personal flotation device (PFD) will be available.

The first 3 trial paddles are free
