ACTEWAGL is reminding residents to ask for and carefully check staff identification following an incident yesterday where a person gained access to a home by claiming to be from the “electricity department”.

“If someone comes to your door claiming to be from ActewAGL and cannot identify themselves by producing ActewAGL identification don’t let them in,” a spokesperson for the utility said.

“Be vigilant and call ActewAGL on 13 10 93.

“If you are concerned for your safety, contact police on 131 444. Anyone who may have information relating to such activity is requested to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via act.crimestoppers.com.au
