Everyone’s a winner in Coe’s shadow cabinet

IT seems, according to Opposition Leader Alistair Coe’s announcement this morning of shadow portfolios, that even new opposition members will be taking on large responsibilities.

Coe announces Canberra Liberal portfolios.
Opposition Leader Alistair Coe.
Coe says that each new role demonstrates the Canberra Liberals’ commitment to delivering an alternative vision for Canberra, one that will work against a two-tier society and looks out for families, youth, seniors and the most vulnerable members of the community.

Coe will continue as the shadow Treasurer and shadow minister for Transport, but will also take on a new role for Economic Development.

He says: “My deputy, Nicole Lawder will take on the Planning, Infrastructure and Heritage portfolios and will work closely with the community to ensure we are getting the planning needs for Canberra right.”

With a background in small business and management, Andrew Wall will become the shadow Minister for Local Business and Tourism and for Education and Training. He will remain the shadow Minister for Industrial Relations.

Former leader Jeremy Hanson gets the Attorney-General role and shadow minister for Veterans’ Affairs.

After taking on the portfolio of Emergency Services and Corrections just months before the October election, Giulia Jones will continue in this role, adding shadow minister for Women to the list.

Coe says: “Steve Doszpot has extensive experience running organisations and will now use those experiences and skills to represent the Canberra Liberals as shadow minister of Urban Services. Mr Doszpot will also remain shadow minister for ICT and Seniors.

“Vicki Dunne will take on the role of shadow minister for Health as well as for Arts.”

Newly appointed Canberra Liberal, Elizabeth Lee, will use her background in law for her new position as shadow minister for Environment and shadow minister for Disability.

Coe says, also newly elected Elizabeth Kikkert, as a mother of five, with strong family values, will take on shadow minister for Families, Youth and Community Services as well as for Multicultural Affairs.

“Mark Parton will take on the roles of shadow minister for Housing and for Gaming and Racing.

Lastly, James Milligan will represent the party as shadow minister for Indigenous Affairs, Sport and Recreation.
