Festival of fun coming to Indonesian embassy

indo-dancersOUR huge neighbour to the north, Indonesia, always knows how to celebrate, so its annual cultural festival on the coming weekend is likely to be huge fun.

At the high art end, there will be what they’re calling “the timeless artistry of Indonesian traditional dances”.

As well, there’ll be arts and crafts displays and stalls, other cultural exhibitions, a fashion show – for it should not be forgotten that present-day Jakarta is home to some leading-edge designers – music workshops and live music performances.

This is always a family friendly occasion and there will be a kid’s corner to keep younger visitors occupied.

indo-puppetsAll the best known food treats such as Nasi Goreng, Satay, Gado-gado, Rendang, will be on sale at reasonable prices.

Best of all, there will be three raffle tickets to Indonesia (Sydney-Bali and Sydney-Jakarta) and other door prizes.

It should be remembered that this is always a packed out event, so think carefully about parking.

Indonesian Food and Cultural Festival, Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, 8 Darwin Avenue, Yarralumla, 10.30am-6pm, Saturday October 29. Free admission.
