Fire at Calwell Primary

ALL students and staff at Calwell Primary School have been evacuated following reports of a fire in a classroom.

ACT Fire & Rescue are on scene at Downard Street.

Firefighters were alerted by an Automatic Fire Alarm which was followed by a call to Emergency Triple Zero (000).

Firefighters have extinguished a small fire in an air conditioning unit which caused some localised smoke.

Crews are now undertaking ventilation operations to ensure the area safe.

Staff and students have been allowed to return to some areas of the school.

Two pumpers, the Breathing Apparatus Van and a commander are on scene.

Time of Automatic Fire Alarm call was 11:54am.
