High drama in the sky over Braddon

police

A 22-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court after dangerously scaling construction equipment while intoxicated.

About 10.07pm yesterday (Thursday, 6 October), police were called to Lonsdale Street in Braddon after a report of a man sitting at the top of a crane, about 55 metres high.

Officers from ACT Policing’s Regional Targeting Team were required to climb the crane to assist the intoxicated man to climb down safely.

The man was arrested and taken to the ACT Watch House where he was charged with trespass and will face court at a later date.

Officer-in-Charge of City Police Station, Station Sergeant Jeff Knight said that the man not only put his own life at risk, but risked the lives of police.

“Activities like these may seem harmless at the time – but can have significant and fatal consequences,” Station Sergeant Knight said.

Police remind people not to report crime to Facebook or Twitter pages.
