The event, hosted by the Canberra Torana Club, will stretch across three days to include a parade, a dinner and the main event, a display.

The Holden Torana is a mid-sized car manufactured by Holden from 1967 to 1980. The name comes from an Aboriginal word meaning “to fly”. The first Torana (HB series) was released in 1967 and was a four-cylinder compact vehicle with origins in the British Vauxhall Vivas of the mid-1960s.

Saturday, November 12, will include a parade starting in Tuggeranong that will travel past Canberra tourist attractions before finishing at the Australian War Memorial. That night, a dinner will be hosted in at the Vikings Town Centre Club in tribute of the late Peter Brock.

The main event is a show and shine at Vikings Park Stadium, Amsink Street, Wanniassa, on Sunday, November 13, with some of the finest examples of Toranas of all models across Australia. The display will be open to the public from 10am and free of charge.

A Torana Nationals spokesperson says that this event will become one of the major motor shows in Australia and will be held on a regular basis in Canberra.

“We appreciate the community support we have had from the Vikings Club Group in providing the venue for the event and we would like to thank them and our other major partners for their support,” an event organiser says.

Proceeds from the event will go towards Transplant Australian and Snowy Hydro SouthCare.
