It’s coming right for us / Specific storm warning for Canberra

THE Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 2:25 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Murrumbateman.

These thunderstorms are moving towards the southeast. They are forecast to affect Belconnen, Canberra Civic, Hall and South Canberra by 2:55 pm and Canberra Airport, Woden Valley and Hume by 3:25 pm.

Large hailstones and damaging winds are likely.

The next warning is due to be issued by 3:30 pm.

A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the Hunter, Metropolitan, Illawarra, South Coast, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains, Snowy Mountains, Australian Capital Territory, Northern Tablelands and parts of the Northern Rivers, Mid North Coast, Central West Slopes and Plains and South West Slopes districts.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau’s website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 218.

The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
