Leukaemia foundation robbed of thousands

ACT police are seeking the identity of two men who stole $16,000 worth of appliances from the John James Village, Leukaemia Foundation in Garran during August.

The burglary took place between 3am and 6pm on Friday, August 26. Items stolen included a built-in oven, ceramic-top glass-five burner, slide out range-hood, flat-door fridge and a dishwasher, all of the Fisher and Paykel brand, along with other stolen goods.

One of the males involved in the burglary is of a slim build and walks with a limp. He was wearing a dark hoodie, dark tracksuit pants with a wide white stripe possibly the ‘Canterbury’ brand, brown boots and red gloves.

The second male is described by police as also being of slim build. He was wearing a dark hoodie, blue cap, and blue tracksuit pants with ‘Adidas’ stripes at the bottom, brown shoes and dark gloves.

It is alleged that the two men removed a section of fencing at the rear of John James Village on Hindmarsh Drive and used a vehicle (no description available) to assist with removing the stolen items.

Police are reminding the community that it is an offence to knowingly receive stolen property.
