Liberals promise a shopping centre of Molonglo

jeremy hanson

JEREMY Hanson says a Canberra Liberals Government will prioritise the earmarked shopping centrefor the rapidly expanding Molonglo region to cater for huge growth in the area.

“Our commitment will also ease the strain on car parking at the choked Cooleman Court in Weston Creek, Jeremy said.

“Today, the Canberra Liberals are committing to fast track the release of a block already allocated for the Molonglo’s future shopping centre ahead of further development in the area. We’d plan to get the site to market in 2017.

“When it’s finished, the new region will contain 13 suburbs, an estimated 33,000 new homes and a population of over 70,000. We need to plan ahead of time and a new supermarket and other shops are badly needed.

“Accelerating this new centre will also free up parking for shoppers at Cooleman Court which is struggling with capacity. Anyone who lives in the Weston area knows how hard it is to get a park, especially in peak times,” Mr Hanson concluded.

“Canberrans in Weston Creek and Molonglo deserve better from their local government. Rates have been skyrocketing but local services and amenities are declining as the government diverts its attention for light rail,” Member for Molonglo Giulia Jones said.

“Weston Creek and Molonglo is my home patch and like Canberra’s other suburban areas, it will be a priority for a Hanson led Liberal Government,” Mrs Jones concluded.
