Police investigating Gowrie fire

ACT Policing is investigating the circumstances surrounding a fire at the Gowrie Playing Fields in Gowrie yesterday (Tuesday, October 11).

Around 11.30am, ACT Fire and Rescue responded to numerous triple zero calls from the public reporting the canteen and change rooms located at the Gowrie Playing Fields were alight.

ACT Fire and Rescue attended and extinguished the fire. Following an examination of the scene, fire investigators handed the scene over to police for investigation.

ACT Policing Criminal Investigations detectives are currently investigating the incident.

Police urge anyone who may have witnessed this incident, seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area or who may have any information that could assist police to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Please quote reference number 6022110. Information can be provided anonymously.

Police remind people they should not report crime via Twitter or Facebook pages.
