Pressure hose dislodges asbestos in Fyshwick

A HIGH-pressure hose clean in Fyshwick has resulted in a site closure after asbestos was dislodged. asbestos

According to WorkSafe Commissioner Greg Jones, WorkSafe ACT were on site in Barrier Street Fyshwick where a warehouse roof that was being cleaned with a high-pressure hose dislodged bonded asbestos material from the roof.

Jones says: “The material has been tested by a licensed hygienist who is qualified to test for asbestos and has confirmed the presence of asbestos material.

An exclusion zone resulted in the road closure at Isa Street and part of Barrier – 500 metres either side of the intersection.

The area has now been reopened.
