A model, a dancer, a breakfast radio host and a race horse owner are the Canberra Racing Club’s 2016 Racing Ambassadors.

Marissa Briedenhann, Kate Speldewinde, Kristen Henry and Phil Bywaters will bring fashion, racing and socialising together over the next 12 months as the “faces of the races”.

The next six months will be a busy time for the group with events planned including the Spring High Tea, the Tony Campbell Memorial Cup Race Day and Students Race Day, the Derby Day Garden Party, Melbourne Cup Race Day and The Black Opal Stakes.

“There is nothing better than a day at the races” said Kristen Henry.  “It’s sophisticated, fun, classy and we showcase local talent both on and off the track.  They are events that you can’t miss as part of living in the greatest city in the world,” she said.

As a racehorse owner himself, Phil Bywaters is excited about the role.

“A day at the races is a great way to meet new people and enjoy the colour and excitement of the horses and the fashion,” he said.

“My race horse ownership is a hobby, but my greatest thrill so far was my mare, Storm Siren’s first win at Goulburn when she beat a $4 million Fastnet Rock colt.  Stormy was a $12,000 purchase, I’d like to encourage more people to get involved as part of this role.”
