Re-elected Labor to consider building a new Canberra Theatre

Canberaa Theatre Centre, to be refurbished

ANDREW Barr says that if re-elected Labor will commit to seeing the completion of a full, detailed business case for the development of a new Canberra Theatre.

“This business case would include analysis and financial modelling, an economic impact statement, design and site options and consideration of project delivery methods,” Andrew said.

“It is expected any new Canberra Theatre would have approximately 2,000 seats and be capable of hosting large scale popular music concerts, major production musicals and operatic and ballet performances.

“Subject to the outcome of this business case, ACT Labor would start construction on a new Canberra Theatre Centre in the early 2020s.”
